Freedom from disruption and inconvenience is peace. Peace is needed everywhere but, one place where peace is really needed is in our community. You may wonder, why community?

To build peace you need to have good communication amongst members of the community. People living in communities do not interact, and cannot relate to people from other backgrounds and have no respect for others. We need to eliminate these negative factors and achieve peace.

There are many ways to promote peace but how can we do it? “Treat others the way you want to be treated” is a famous quote, but what does it really mean? The way you respect or cherish someone, is exactly the way others will reciprocate. Listening to other opinions can give you another perspective to relationships.

Peace is tranquility, it is about how your body and mind come to a free state. In this case, we need to make peace with people surrounding us. On “International Peace Day” which falls on 21 September, we should engage with our neighbor's by talking to them and learning to accept them. Out of all the points to make peace within the community, communication is the biggest factor. Many say communication is the mainstay to success, but how?

Communication can help us talk to people all around the world and right in our community. For communicating with people, we need to accept their perspective. There are many ways to communicate with people. Usually, we verbally communicate and that is a good way to interact. In verbal communication we express ourselves using words and emotions. The person listening is going to understand you, respect you and keep peace with you. When we start interacting with another person, you are going to understand their view and might be able to relate to them. When you understand someone you are going to treat them with respect and be polite towards them. Finally you are going to create an unbreakable bond and treat them as equal. Effective communication can make the whole world into one happy family. This is how communication can help bring peace in our community.
